Can't Say THANK YOU Enough xo

Dear God,

You give us so many wonderful things in this world. Should I try to list everything or is there even enough paper in the world to write all the good "stuff" that you have blessed us with?

Every cloud, and tree, and flower, and animal, the mountains, the air, the oceans and seas......they surround us ALL.

God, you are most glorious. You are wonderful. You have given me a good man, good children, good parents, good in laws and sister in laws, a good brother, a job......! Just plain old GOOD STUFF!

THANK YOU!!:)

I can't say it enough.

Love,
Me:)

70's Barefeet

Dear God,

I grew up as a kid in the 70's. I know you already know that. I wanted to thank you for the exact time that you put me on this earth. I could have been born in the early 1800's or 1618 or 200 BC. Boy, would I have been a different person if I had been born at any of those times.

Do you know what I liked about growing up in the 70's?

We went shopping barefooted. I remember getting in the car to go to town as kids and me and my brother wouldn't have shoes on nor would we take them with us. Mom didn't even care and she was picky about EVERYTHING. People didn't expect children to wear shoes back then. We would even run into other kids in the stores that didn't have on shoes. We were so happy back then. Maybe people would be happier today if they didn't have to wear shoes.......maybe?

Did Jesus wear shoes? Sandals?

Love,
Me:)

Broken People Can Do Stuff

Dear God,

My daughter told me one time "Broken people can do stuff".

Isn't that the truth Lord? It seems like people who have been through great trials and tribulations in this life have so much more grit and are more apt to accomplish things than people who have never been broken. I've read that when bones are broken, reset, put into casts, and then go through the healing process that the mended area is stronger than it was before it was broken. That's what I have always heard.

If it is true, then this would be a good analogy; broken bones and broken people.

People are stronger where they heal just like bones are stronger in the broken area that has healed.

Thank you for healing and strength. They seem to go hand and hand, don't they?

Love,
Me:)

Divorce :(

Dear God,

Divorce is a horrible thing, isn't it? I have never been through one and hope to never have to go through one.

I work with several people who have been divorced or are in the process of getting a divorce. One of my friends has been in a bad marriage the entire time she has been married and now her and her husband are seeking council to try and reconcile some pretty traumatic things that have gone on while they have been married to each other. If I were her, I would have left a long time ago and not tolerated the abuse. I do admire their commitment in trying to save their marriage as they are in counseling. I tell people that I would NEVER put up with abuse but they say that the abuse is so gradual that they didn't even realize it was happening until it got to a dangerous point in their lives.

God, please be with these people that are going through divorce and marital problems. They need your strength and wisdom to sustain and help them through this pain.

Love,
Me:)

Liar Liar Pants on Fire...OUCH!

Dear God,

Is it possible for a human to never tell a lie while alive on this earth? Is it? I know that Jesus did not lie.....EVER.

Proverbs 12:17-22 talks about lying and how you detest lying lips.

Do I ever lie? To say that I don't is to tell a lie. This is pretty heavy on my heart because I don't like lying and I don't think that I intentionally do it, or do I? This is really hard to write about because I don't like saying that I lie. If I tell someone that I am a liar, would they believe me? I think being noted as a liar would not be a good thing. I have heard that there are Liars Clubs that people belong to and I wonder how they know where to meet if the person setting up the time and place to congregate is a liar. How would they know he/she was telling the truth?

Lord, help me not to lie and please bring it to my attention when I am faced with a situation that would be tempting to do so.

Love,
Me:)

NON-Honey Words

Dear God,

Who invented cuss words? I really hate to admit this, but I guess that I have said almost every cuss word at least once. I remember when I said the big "F" word to my mom. I was probably 5 or 6 years old and I wanted to say the word "fart" but instead I said the other "F" word. You were there when I said it. You know that I did not know what it meant. My mom did not scold me though. I think she knew that I did not really know what I was saying.

As I have gotten older, I KNOW what I am saying when words leave my lips. The bottom line is this:

I am not sure why certain words (aka the sounds we make from our mouths) are considered BAD words. Again, as in past letters to you, I ask who it was that decided that certain words be segregated into a taboo category? I think we'd be better off if they had never created such a lingual lunacy as cussing.

Me:)

Honey Words

Dear God,

How busy are bees? People say they are as "busy as a bee". What exactly does that mean? Your word talks about honey a lot. It also mentions ants and the way they work..work...work. I can't remember reading too much about bees though.

How do sayings get started anyway? Who coined the phrases:

Dead as a doornail.
Happy as a lark.
One brick shy of a load.

WORDS!

Words paint the pictures of our lives, don't they? Well, they sure add color to it. I love words. I love YOUR words Lord. Boy, this letter sure doesn't have anything to do with bees and how they work. How did I turn and ramble this thing to the topic of WORDS? The mind and its silly little ways, I am assuming.

Me:)

Kids and Jokes♥

Dear God,

I love when little kids start telling jokes. It is so funny to me. They are so cute to listen to as they ramble on with punch lines that are not really as funny as the WAY they tell it. I think my kids started telling jokes to us at the age of three. My four year old nephew is a hoot to talk to because he totally GETS humor. He is silly and laughs at goofy faces and the weird ways that people say things.

Do you know why the fireman was wearing red suspenders?
To hold his pants up.

Seven years olds love this joke when I tell it, as long as they don't know the punch line.

Thank you for jokes and for the brains to GET jokes when they are told to us. (well, some of us anyway..)

Strangers...Can We Trust'em?

Dear God,

Is it OK to trust strangers? There seems to be such a push to be scared of people that we don't know. Is it wrong to trust strangers (again I ask)? I mean, I wouldn't give someone that I didn't know my baby to hold, or my wallet to watch for me, but generally speaking, what percentage of strangers are bad people that want to hurt us and take advantage of us? You know the exact number, don't you? If you know the number of hairs on our heads, you certainly know how many bad strangers there are walking around.

I trust strangers with a hello, a smile, a one liner at the appropriate moment. I trust them enough to say thank you and please to them as well. I even trust them to shake their hands at times. I touch strangers!!

Thank you for strangers. After all, everyone we know was a stranger to us at one point in our lives, even You dear Lord.

♥Yearly "Earthdom" Divided by Four♥

Dear God,

Why are there four seasons? I mean, why have we chosen to divide a years worth of "earthdom" into four seasons?

Spring....Summer....Autumn....Winter

How funny that we categorize so many different things, even time.

I have read that people's lives are a lot like the seasons:

Spring goes from birth to 19 years of age.
Summer is from 20 years old to 40 years old.
Autumn is 41 years old to 60 years old.
Winter is 60 till we expire.

If this is true, I am in autumn as far as living goes then. You know Lord, Autumn IS my favorite season as far as nature goes. Winter is my least favorite as I hate the cold; winter is the next season that I will be entering if I make it to 60 years of age.

Thank you for autumn and thank you for letting me see over 40 of them so far. Thank you for the "autumn" part of living too. So far, it is my favorite one!

Age....an Earth Thing!

Dear God,

Is there a perfect age to be? What I mean is, what age are we at the maximum of our physical and thinking abilities while walking around on earth? Is it different ages for different people? I have a theory that it is 33 years old because that is the said age of Jesus when he died on the cross. I also think everyone in Heaven will be 33 years old too. I am not sure how that works when people younger than 33 die. Do they suddenly sprout up to be 33 years old? I am not even sure that any of this is true. It is just a theory, a mind wonder of mine.

Age probably won't matter at all in Heaven, being eternity and all. I guess age is an "Earth" thing.

Thank you for the age that I am now.

Me:)

The Fruit and the Fall

Dear God,

I just got finished eating an apple. What exactly WaS the fruit that Adam and Eve ate in the Garden of Eden? Why do people say it was an apple? It doesn't say anything about the fruit being an apple or even resembling an apple.

Perhaps it was a cherry or an orange. Except, oranges have to be peeled and I imagine that it was one of those ready made kind of fruits that a person could pick and eat without all the fuss of peeling (banana, grapefruit, lemon, kiwi....)

Whatever it was, it sure started a mess when they ate it.

The Job Factor

Dear God,

I can't imagine what Job went through while he was living. He was plagued with sores, his friends discouraged him, his wife gave NO support, he lost his land and all his possessions. He lost his children when a house collapsed on them.

Job went through TREMENDOUS loss but in the end, he was blessed with twice as much as he had before his loss. I am thinking that he forever had the scars of loss from all he had to suffer through. I'm thinking that he again experienced happiness and joy but he had to remember the loss he experienced until the day he died.

The process of living is filled with loss and gain, pain and joy, disappointments and encouragements. I think some folks experience these things with greater intensity than others do.

Lord, is it the intensity of the process that creates greatness? I don't even know if greatness is the right word or not. Extreme maturity and wisdom......maybe these two things are what we receive from the experiences we travel through.

Just thinking out loud on paper/computer today.

♥Remembering AGAIN♥

Dear God,

Sometimes I like to think about things that happened to me when I was a child. I remember so many wonderful and good things. I remember just about every place that I went swimming. Why do children LOVE to play in the water? I remember playgrounds and riding bikes with friends. I remember all of my dolls that I played with when I was young. I still have them and can even remember their names from biggest to smallest: Shelly, Pamela, Betty, Diane, and Susan. These seem like such simple names to me now. I loved those baby dolls.

I remember some of the bad things too. I remember seeing my pet bunny rabbit lying dead in the garage because a bicycle had fallen on it. I remember the mean boy down the street. He was mean to ALL of the neighborhood kids. I even remember his name too......his dad was a preacher.

Good and bad, I guess that what I am trying to say is: Thank you for ALL of the memories. Each life event has created the "Me" that I am today; a "me" that can worship YOU.

The Black Hole of Electronic Utopia

Dear God,

I am amazed at how much cell phones and the internet are controlling peoples lives these days. Are these things creating better human beings on this earth?

I don't know. It doesn't seem like it to me sometimes.

When I go shopping, I see mothers ignoring their children because they are shopping with a phone stuck in their ear (sometimes both the parent and the child are on phones at the same time). I have seen auto accidents caused by cell phone ear usage. Hours can fly by as we sit with a screen in our face, looking and listening to whatever we can find that will stimulate our senses on the internet. I try very hard to keep from being sucked into the same black hole of electronic utopia, BUT sometimes the pull is too strong and I lose valuable time meandering on worthless piddle things. Instead of looking at pictures of a clean house, why don't I get up and make MY house look the same? It's easier to look at the pictures.

What is happening to "hands on" abilities? It is frightening to me to think about where this is all heading. I can't ever write what I think because it is pretty scary to me. All I know is, I am glad you are my Father and I get some wonderful directions from your word.....with or without a cell phone and/or computer.

Love,
Me:)

Where Do Birds Go When It Rains?

Dear God,

Where do birds go when it rains? Their nests don't have roofs on them and most of the time, they are really high in the trees. In fact, I don't see very many animals out at all when there is a bad storm going on Of course, I'm not out in it either. I could be wondering about something that is easily answered if I "weathered the storm" and had a look for myself to find all the critters.

I need to pay attention!

Gluttony OH Gluttony

Dear God,

FOOD! Let's talk about food. I don't even know where to begin on this subject. I watched a show yesterday where a man was trying to eat five pounds of hot dogs, chili, and French fries in under 10 minutes in order to beat the current record held by a man that did it in 9:33 minutes. OUCH!! He did not make it under 10 minutes and he looked pretty miserable after it was all over because of the attempt.

Food is a biggie down here on earth. I think we (not ALL, but a vast majority---maybe---I don't know?) abuse it. Maybe the area that I live in reflects it more than other areas of the world. There are a lot of people out of shape around my town....maybe I should enlarge that to COUNTY as not to offend my fellow townspeople. Abusing food can cause diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity. Why do we do it then? It seems to be another example of taking something that is so good, and ruining it by abusing it.

Things and people that are good need to be valued, cherished, and taken care of and not abused. Look how we did Jesus when He walked on the earth. WHEN will we learn?

Me:)

Take The Solitary Road Sometimes

Dear God,

I like my quiet time. I have always been that way. When people interrupt me when I want to be alone, it makes me mad. "Please leave me alone so I can be ALONE!"I don't want to be by myself all the time, just sometimes.

It seems that people are around me every inch of the day; at home, at work, when I shop.

You know that I love people, it's just that I like my quiet time too. I shouldn't get mad when it is interrupted, but I do. Well, I am not sure if "mad" is the right word, maybe irritated or annoyed are better choice words to use. I like the road of one-ness sometimes (well, two-ness when I count YOU).

Lord, please help me each day to have my quiet time by myself. I think it makes me better to people around me all day long when I do carve out this time to be alone.........with YOU.

Cartoon Knees

Dear God,

My two daughters pick on me at times. I really love "LOVE POKES" from them. They are fun and bring me laughter.

Well, my girls tell me that I have CARTOON KNEES. What are cartoon knees? I don't see it and they have been saying it for years. Yes, my knees are a bit boney I guess, but I am not sure what defines a cartoon knee.

I Googled it and got a lot of pictures of knees. I guess my knees look like Popeye's or Velma's from Scooby-Doo. I didn't see any knees on Bugs Bunny or on Fog Horn Leg Horn. (cartoons that I grew up with anyway)

I guess that I need to go back and watch some of the cartoons that they were watching when they were young. It is funny how things we see or watch often affect how we "see and watch" other people and things.

God, thank you for my "cartoon knees". Without them, I would probably be just "cartoon straight leg" girl.

3:00AM...Is That Early or Late?

Dear God,

REALLY? Three o'clock in the morning?

Thank you for my "morning person" personality. I love mornings. I am not the obnoxious "happy-happy-laugh-laugh" irritant of a person that is overly anxious to start the sunshine day and all, but I quietly and wonderfully LOVE mornings.

For me, it is my most creative time to think, invent, and study. I do physical manual labor "no brainer" things after 5:00pm. I do not want to use my brains at night. My oldest daughter likes to "THINK" at night. We don't mesh well on serious subjects unless we meet in the middle around 2:30pm.

At 3:00am, I was awaken by your Spirit with an answer to a question that needed an answer. Thank you. You know the best time to answer questions for each of us so that we can hopefully understand Your will in our lives. I am sure that 3:00am is NOT the time for some folks. For me, it is good.

People that Don't Talk Might Be a GOOD Thing

Dear God,

I don't like it when people don't talk. It drives me crazy when they won't voice an opinion or answer a direct question, or give up some of their inner working SOUL to me so I will KNOW what is going on inside of their heads. I like communication.

Proverbs says that even a fool is thought wise if he keeps his mouth closed. (paraphrased of course).

There are many quotes and "wisdomities" floating around in the air that say things like:

"Man who talks a lot has nothing to say"

I think I read that on a piece of paper in a fortune cookie once.

Total irony story here about communication. The place where I work comes up each year with a yearly "motto" phrase to work by for the upcoming year. One year, the phrase was "Communication is King". All year it was said at meetings. I thought to myself "Well, I can think of other things that would be KING, but I'll go with it for a year". It wasn't until the end of the year that I found out that the phrase was "Communication is KEY".....

Not so sure what to think about THAT.....LOL.

Me:)

Back Off...Fear

Dear God,

Thunder, rain hitting our patio, and the refrigerator motor running are the sounds that I am hearing right now as I write. Some people are scared of storms. I have never had anything happen to me that makes me scared of them. If I had experienced a traumatic loss or a hurtful episode had occurred because of a storm, perhaps I would be frightened.

My tension actually loosens up and flees when I hear rain and thunder unless the thunder is the abrupt CRACKING kind that catches me off guard and makes me jump out of my skin.

I guess my thought for today is:
"One man's fear is another man's peace."

I don't know if anyone needs to be quoted as saying this or not, but for me, this seems to be the case. What is it that we FEAR that brings others peace? Your word says not to fear and to cast our cares on You. Thank you Lord for those words.

Victory...Are You There?

Dear God,

I need a victory in something......pretty soon. I can't keep reading about other people's successes and watching myself stand stagnant in the same water I've been wading in for years. I want to be like David in your word. That man had some mighty victories with Your help.

I am ready to move, not only move, but to advance. I want to be bold for You.

Give me wisdom and gumption to do it.....whatever it is I need to do. Let me be your spokesperson. I want others to know that You love them.

Sometimes, I Crave the REAL Things

Dear God,

I spoke to a dear lady today who told me that her deceased husband was a film processor years ago before digital EVERYTHING took over. It seems that he processed some wonderful pictures that were actually published in the National Geographic magazine years ago. I have always loved the pictures in that magazine. The pictures he processed were of monarch butterflies in Mexico and they were totally covering the trunks of trees. Well, I HAD to pull up Monarchs/National Geographic/Mexico on the computer.

Simply Beautiful.

Thousands and thousands of butterflies sitting in and on trees. That would be something to see in real life. Pictures are great and all, but REAL LIFE is better.

Sometimes, I crave the REAL THINGS and not the image of the real things. I am glad that there are no images of You for us to look at and admire because if there were, we might just forget about the REAL and be satisfied with the image. I guess that may be one reason that You said "not to make any images".

Real vs Imagery....

Me:)

♥Sweet Giving♥

Dear God,

Which is sweeter? When someone gives flowers or when someone receives flowers?

I love getting flowers. You know that my favorite flower (and it is hard to say that I have a favorite because they are all so beautiful) is a tulip. Tulips are simple little flowers and they have no smell. They have many colors to offer. They are stocky and strong to me. They look beautiful in a crystal vase OR a mason jar with the water line half way up the jar. They are versatile and pragmatic, at least to ME they are that way. This is a lot to place on a flower.

I like giving flowers, especially if I know what the person's favorite flower is. My mom loved yellow roses. When I gave her flowers, that is what I gave her. (she is no longer here ya know) One flower or two dozen, either amount gets the same reaction when given or received. Well, at least a smile is mustard up.

Your word says it is more blessed to give than to receive. Help me to KNOW this blessing because I think that when we get to the point in our lives of loving the GIVING of flowers more than the RECEIVING of flowers, we will begin to know a little more about Your type of love......"God Love".

Love,
Me:)

Poor Hagar? Poor Abram!

Dear God,

I know that things were different back in "bible" times (or were they?). I'm talking about when Abraham walked on the earth and such.

I was reading this morning about Abram, Sarai, and Hagar (the Egyptian maidservant of Sarai.) I know that you know the story. Sarai could not have children, she talked Abram into marrying Hagar so that he could have children with her, he did get married, they did conceive a male child. Then, Sarai, who's idea it was in the first place, got MAD at Hagar. But, Hagar DID start acting uppity to Sarai after she became pregnant. Well, Sarai didn't like it, started treating Hagar badly, and Hagar ran away. One of your angels came to Hagar and told her to go back to Sarai, she would have a son named Ishmael, and her descendants would be too numerous to count. She went back.

Two things:

1. I can't imagine being Hagar. It just didn't seem fair when she was doing what she was told to do by Sarai. Again, Hagar shouldn't have gotten snotty to Sarai after she got pregnant, but I don't think that warranted such treatment....just me and my thinking. It appears that REAL LIFE happened back then too. Real Drama Queen kinda stuff.

2. On my word...Abram was 86 years old....REALLY? Poor man.

Love,
Me:)

♥Handwriting Bad, Intelligence Good♥

Dear God,

My daughter just told me that people with bad hand writing are more intelligent than people with good handwriting (according to SOME study).

Well, Hallelujah! I guess that I am amazingly intelligent because my handwriting is so bad that even "I" can't read what I have written at times. If this study is true, I guess that Jesus would have had the worst handwriting of all.

I often want to know more about the STUDIES that people do then the actual THING they studied. Is there a study on studies and how accurate they are to the truth and facts of what is studied? hmmmm.......??

Let me Google that because everyone knows that "Google" is 100% accurate.

I love YOU because I know that You are 100% accurate.

Love,
Me:)

Simultaneously, Night and Day

Dear God,

Thank you for allowing me to see night and day at the SAME TIME!! That was truly amazing to me and it was a sight I will not forget. You always see them at the same time. I got to see it ONCE and thought that it was so cool!

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary came and went and we took that cruise to Alaska we have been planning for over 25 years. AMAZING! Anyway, I was standing on the upper deck of the ship at around 10:30 pm when I noticed it was not DARK like it is at home around that time. To the left of me, the moon was bright, full, and surrounded by darkness with little sparkly stars all around it. To the right of me, the sky was a mixture of oranges, yellows, pale blues, reds, and the sun was going down behind some purplish bluish mountains. It was THEN that I realized that I was seeing night and day at the same time. I couldn't take a picture of it because it was so BIG!

Thank you for the night and day moments in my life. You blow me away with your gifts Lord!

Love,
Me:)

One Way Streets?

Dear God,

Were there one way streets in Jesus' day? Who came up with the idea of one way streets? I guess it was created out of necessity or something. Who knows? Does anyone ever think about these kinds of things other than me?

Sometimes, I find that one way streets can be an annoyance. I remember having to drive in a city that I was not familiar with and I was sitting at a red light with my blinker flashing to turn left. I noticed the people in cars facing towards me sitting at their red light were looking at me and waving their arms and saying something.....I couldn't hear them. Well, the light turned green. I turned left, horns began to honk. OOPS, I was going down a one way road the WRONG way. I immediately knew I was when I entered the street and read the sign that said WRONG WAY. I won't even BOTHER to write the similarities between what I did and how LIFE is a lot like that and You supply the signs, the people, the horns, the WORDS to warn us.

Thank you for the warnings Lord.

Love,
Me:)

Falling Stars♥World Peace

Dear God,

I was out walking the other morning and I saw three separate falling stars in the sky. I get excited when I see them and I say a prayer and think of a special person when I see one in the sky.

The game that I have created in my head when I see them is that I have to do it as fast as I can......NO THINKING. If I can't think of a special person immediately, I take my "free card" and say "World Peace". There. That will cover everyone.

God, it would be nice if we could say ONE general prayer to cover every person on earth. If I had to immediately think of one special prayer to cover everyone on earth,  would quickly say "World PEACE". There are a life time of prayers that need to be said. I better get to saying them before time permits me no more.

Love,
Me:)
