Thank You for Washing Machines

Dear God,

Thank you for washing machines.

I read a TO DO list one time that was written by a pioneer woman from the 1800's. It looked something like this:

Monday: Laundry
Tuesday: Can Vegetables
Wednesday: Sew and Mend
Thursday: Trade in Town
Friday: Make Pies
Saturday: Garden
Sunday: Church/Rest

These women spent all day on one task sometimes. Did they talk to You when they did that? Did they sing and hum made up songs? My grandma wrote a song about a goat one time. I wonder if that came on one of her "wash" days.

One day=One task

You know what? That my not be so bad of an idea. BUT, thank you for the progression of washing clothes with an electric washing machine that does it all....

Love,
Me:)

It's Hard to be a Doer (not a Deer)

Dear God,

Being a "doer" (not a deer) is harder than I thought. I have really been working to become more of a doer of Your word, a doer in my house work, a doer to better myself, a doer to help and give to others. Being a "doer" is an entirely different way of living than being a "dreamer" only. Doers get things DONE!! Results are a big factor for a doer. You can't have "done" without "do"......NOPE.

I need to know what results I want to achieve BEFORE I start doing something, not AFTER I begin the process. I think that it would give more purpose to the "Do" in my life.

Do-Do-Do
Know-Know-Know
Value-Value-Value
and
Start-Start-Start!!

How SIMPLE is that?

Thanks for DOERS! Help me to be one. And thank you for deers too.

Love,
Me:)

Bless the Latter Part of My Life Please

Dear God,

I really love how the book of Job ended. Job 42:12 says that You blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first. I feel like this is the stage that I am in right now of my life. As of this writing, I am 47 years old. Will I live to be 94 years old? Anyway, I think that at the age of 47, one can say they are entering the latter part of life. I feel blessed by You so far. If life can be divided into two parts, the first part and the last part, then I would have to say the first part was filled with a lot of LIFE stuff (birth-growing-salvation-high school-college-marriage-children-home-vocations-death of loved ones). It has been pretty full thus far.

God, I don't want to be selfish and ask you this, but I DO want to ask You to bless the latter part of my life MORE than the first. WOW!!! That would be awesome. I think that I will start off the second half by falling totally in love with You and following the words that have been given to us.

Love,
Me:)

Today is Auto Pilot Day

Dear God,

Some days, I feel that my auto pilot has been turned on. Today is one of those "auto pilot" kind of days. I see all of the tasks before me, I anticipate some stressful situations and some uncertainties as I am going to be meeting with a person today that I am not sure HOW to help them. God, help me and give me wisdom. I have many home tasks to do and I know how exhausted I physically am going to be after an extremely busy day at work. It seems that I can see the beginning, the middle, and the end of this day before it begins....how LIFELESS!

God, I thank you for the auto pilot days too. Being on auto pilot means things are gonna be smooth with no unusual problems, wind or storms ahead. Coasting life is good sometimes. It gives us time to rest before the next hill comes up.

Love,
Me:)

Musicians Have Influenced Me...Oh My Word!

Dear God,

One time, I tried to write down all the musicians in my life that have influenced my style of music that I create. I couldn't do it. I think that EVERY song that I have ever heard and EVERY singer and musician that I have listened to has influenced me in some form or fashion. It is amazing how influences like these can shape who we are as people.

Is it true that every person that we have ever met in person or seen through the "air waves" of TV, movies, internet has some type of molding influence on who we are as people? Proverbs says "as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another".

I wouldn't say that the BAD people that have come and gone out of my life was a GREAT experience, but I can certainly say that I learned some pretty valuable lessons that I would not have learned other wise if they had not come into my life at all.

Lord, thank you for influences.

Love,
Me:)

Writings on Walls

Dear God,

Thank you for letting me see and understand the "writing on the wall" concerning certain people in my life.

Daniel Chapter 5 tells the story of Belshazzar's experience when he saw a hand (Your hand?) appear out of nowhere and write a message on a wall. He was super scared when he saw it too; probably because it wasn't normal to have hands pop up out of nowhere and start writing on walls. That message was extremely important but NO ONE could understand it until Daniel interpreted it.

One of the frustrating things about seeing "writings on walls" is that sometimes the answers to the questions we want to know are right in front of our faces and we don't understand what it means unless we let You reveal it to us through Your Spirit or through someone else. Even then, it may not be a message we want to accept. Sometimes, truth and realization HURTS!!! I think that it is what we DO with truth and realization once we have it that helps us grow into stronger and more able minded folks.

Thank you for Godly insights and "writings on the walls".

Love,
Me:)

This Wonderful Possession Called LIFE

Dear God,

Proverbs 12:26-27
A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions.

God, it is a bit frightful to me how the entire social media works. People are befriending people that they don't know nor have ever met and divulging precious information about their children, their spouses, their vocations, their LIVES. I am just as guilty as the next guy about being lax in this area as well.

I think it is wise to hold back a bit on informing the world wide web about every tiny detail of our lives. Our lives are a precious gift to be prized, not a dead carcass of an animal to lay in the street so flies and maggots can collect on it and buzzards can pull it apart. This is a gross analogy....HEY...maybe this is what my dream was about last night!

Anyway, help me to be more cautious and to prize this wonderful possession called LIFE.

Love,
Me:)

Sometimes, Dreams are Weird

Dear God,

I had some weird dreams last night. I am not sure if it was one dream with sub movies inside of it, or a multitude of dreams with space between each one.

One part of the dream had me and my husband driving down a dark country road. Tree leaves were acting like a huge canopy above us. It was kinda creepy. Suddenly, we came upon a baby deer that had been hit by a car and it was laying in the road. It was sitting up looking at us, but there was blood on the road and the poor thing was dying. That was THE END of that part of the dream collage.

Why would I dream that? How weird. It is really cool how our minds work and the things that we dream seem to come out of nowhere. I think there is meaning to everything that goes on around us. Sometimes the meaning is good, and sometimes it is bad.

Thank you for dreams and meanings.

Love,
Me:)

Fruit Glorious Fruit

Dear God,

I love grapes, strawberries, watermelon, raspberries, oranges....just about all fruits! Fruit is so good!! Thank you for yummy fruit, even the seeds that we have to spit out.

Thank you for the fruit of Your Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. {Galatians 5:22-23}

Who wouldn't want the fruit that Your Spirit gives us? This fruit is YUMMY too. There are no seeds to spit out either. This is fruit in its entirety.

Just like the fruit that grows on trees and vines, my question is:

Does the fruit of the Spirit have different stages like the fruit that we eat? Is there times when "love" isn't ripe or when "patience" isn't as big as it could get?

Every single word listed in the fruits of the Spirit....I just LOVE and I want to eat EVERY ONE OF THEM!!

Love,
Me:)

Jesus, the Best Doctor Around

Dear God,

I do not like it when someone in my family is sick. Please be with my youngest right now as she is battling something. The doctor says it might be a kidney stone.....those HURT because You know that I have had three attacks from those little boogers (OUCH!!).

The doctors on this earth can only do SO MUCH for a person. They are not You. We give them all the information that we can and then based on their experience and their knowledge, they make a diagnosis and treat what they think it might be. It is the BEST we can do as humans. Experience and knowledge are two VERY strong tools to help us help others.

But, without You in the mix, it seems incomplete.

Thank you for the minds and gifts of doctors.

THANK YOU!

Me:)

New Heaven...New Earth...:)

Dear God,

When I read Your promises in the bible, I sometimes feel that another layer of reinforcement has been added to my already firm foundation of the "floor" that I am standing on in this old world.

What is speaking to me right now is in Isaiah 65:17-20.

EmojiNew Heaven (I haven't even seen the old one yet)
EmojiNew Earth (THAT will be good as I am seeing what we have right now...even though I love autumn leaves, mountains, and blue skies).
EmojiNever again will babies live but a few days (I have been to some funerals of little babies and these words that You have given are WONDERFUL)
EmojiPeople will not die before their time (Mom was 57 years old when she died.....I think that was way too early to die)

Thank you for these words dear Lord.
They are wonderful words.

Of Making Books, There is No End

Dear God,

I want to write my next book and entitle it "TWO Things to Do Before You Die". I love coming up with titles to books, movies, songs, papers, projects. Oh, I LOVE IT. The problem is writing the stuff to back up the title. Man, that requires thinking, writing, keyboarding, researching, early morning, late night WORK!!

Writing is not easy, but it is AWESOME! There is something about writing. Writing thoughts, facts, and make believe stories gives such a sense of creation; taking something that is nothing and creating something. Kinda like a mini You, Lord. Maybe that is why I love it so, because so many words that I write down are creations from You to and through me. I put my earthly stuff down sometimes and I don't think it is near as good as the stuff that You give me to write. Thank you for this desire in me to WRITE!!

Me:)

Seventy Times Seven

Dear God,

Forgiveness.

Jesus said to forgive someone 70 X 7. He did. A man asked him how many times we should forgive someone when they wrong us, and Jesus said 70 X 7.

I have read and heard people say that it was not a literal meaning. But you know what? It could be. If someone has wronged the same person 490 times, in my opinion, there is something wrong with the "wronger" (the one DOING the wronging). I think Jesus is saying here that there ARE limits when people wrong us. If someone WANTS to keep accurate records of the number of times a person wrongs them, and the "wronger" hits time number 491, THEN it is time for the "wrongee" (the person getting the treatment) to walk away. Jesus could have answered "every time the person wrongs you, you should forgive them". That isn't what He said.

There are people in this world that would keep track of such things. I know that one of my gifts is the gift of grace and I don't have the ability to hold a grudge. I hate to say this, but it bums me out sometimes that I can't hold a grudge when people are mean to me. But, I DO sleep really good every night as I don't take any grudges to bed with me.

Thank you Lord for grace.

Love,
Me:)

When Dark Turns to Light

Dear God,

There are so many things written in your word about light. Light in a real sense, light in a metaphysical sense, light in a saving sense, light in a destructive sense (I THINK that there is a "destructive light"....must look). Usually when one thinks of "light" it seems to refer to goodness. How many times in movies have I heard the phrase "go to the light"?

I am not sure about the things that I read when people have a near death experience and they say that they "see the light". Your word says that "Jesus" is the light of the world. Your word also says that men love darkness more than light because their ways are wicked. People don't like wickedness exposed so they try to cover up the light. When a thief is trying to break into a house at night, flipping on a switch tends to become a major deterrent, doesn't it?

Thank you for sending Your light to the world. I am a morning sunrise kinda girl and I love it when dark turns to light.

Love,
Me:)

Some Folks are Meaner Than the Devil

Dear God,

Yesterday, my four year old nephew was telling me how much he couldn't stand his four year old female cousin. He said that she would not share and she has the "devil" in her that makes her MEAN!! I told him that he needed to be nice to her because that is what Jesus would want him to do. He did not like that at all. He folded his arms, rolled his eyes, stuck out his pouty lips and totally tuned me out in about a half of a second.

OH MY WORD! Do "I" do that to You Lord? I know that I do and I am so sorry when I do it. It sure looks pretty silly and immature. Lord, help me to not cross my arms, roll my eyes, stick out my pouty lips and tune You out when you tell me what is best for me and what I need to do about the "meaner than the devil" kind of people around me.

Grasshoppers......UGH!

Dear God,

Why are grasshoppers on this earth? Grasshoppers are so destructive. There are jillions of them around and they are creepy looking. Yesterday, in my backyard, there were grasshoppers all over the chair that I wanted to sit in. I shooed'em all away, but on the arm of the chair, there was a grasshopper's head laying there and its spinal chord (or whatever they have) was still attached. The body was missing....GROSS!! How did that happen? Did another grasshopper do that? EWWW....nature is so brutal!

This is quite frightful to me that there could be some psycho grasshopper jumping around killing other grasshoppers.

You know what? There are people like that too. I don't like it! Not one bit! There are mean, horrible people in this world. Someday, the hammer is gonna come down, and true justice will be served. Until that day God, please watch over us "sheep" people and keep us from the grasshopper wolves here. At least there is always HOPE for anyone on this earth to have Your saving grace as long as they are still drawing breath.

Love,
Me:)

The Holy Spirit is WONDERFUL!

Dear God,

Thank you for the Holy Spirit in my life. Some people may call the Holy Spirit that dwells in us our "conscience". Having a conscience is good and all, but there is something more powerful, more DEVINE, about Your Spirit.

The Holy Spirit inside of me gets so excited whenever it hears about You and Your words. It gets excited when it is around people that believe in You. It is like the Holy Spirit is at a family reunion and gets to hug all of it's cousins or something. I can meet a person that is a complete stranger, but if Your Spirit is in them, we can stop right there and pray together to You and be very connected.

How strange and utterly WONDERFUL this connection is to me.

Thank you for the Holy Spirit in my life and heart.

I Don't Have to Speak Ya, I Do Want to Pray for Ya

Dear God,
I need to know how to keep someone a friend without speaking to them. How is it possible to have a person in my heart, think the absolute world of them, but NOT have any communication with them? Can you help me understand this? I want to understand. I need to know what this means so that I can continue on with life in a healthy manner.

Dealing with the unknown and unseen things of this world is NOT easy. There really are hidden forces all around us. The forces that deal with our minds are unbelievably almost overpowering at times. Without you Lord, I can't imagine how a battle with the unseen world would turn out. You keep me stable and help my understanding with Your words.

Sometimes, I read things in your word that I don't like......but, truth is truth. If I choose to flow with it and not "agin" it, my ride sure seems to be a lot smoother.

Anyway, please help me to understand this kind of stuff.

Thank you.
